A Letter from the Director to International Students

Dear students,

I’m Wang Ying, the Director of the International Student Center here at Beijing Institute of Technology. Thank you for choosing BIT as your university for degree and language study. We are very happy to have you here.

As the new director of the International Student Center, it is my goal to improve the supporting system for you here. I unders

tand that we need to improve in many areas. I want you to understand that the changes will happen gradually. Please give us your full support and patience. It will take time for things to improve. Thank you for the constructive feedback that you have already given us. Please know that we are listening and will take your suggestions seriously.


To improve your study experience here, we have begun establishing contacts with the deans, professors, and advisors in the academic schools where you study. We want to create a sustainable and favorable environment for international students here at BIT. We are also pursuing conversations with these schools to open more courses in English for undergraduates and masters students. Work has also been started in the identification of qualified PhD advisors who have the combination of good academic skills and the ability to communicate clearly in English.


IIn the coming year, we plan to do many things to improve your studying and living here. I want to thank you in advance for your cooperation. I welcome any additional suggestions that you may have as well as your feedback on the current changes that are being made. Next semester, I will schedule an open office time one afternoon each week. This will be a time for you to come with questions, comments, and suggestions.
